   President: Tony Mangabat

Tony Mangabat, Health and Safety Manager for The DePaul Group’s Highway Materials Inc., has over 16 years of Environmental, Health, & Safety experience in a multitude of industries.  A graduate of LaSalle University, Tony has worked for many noted corporations including Westinghouse, Emerson Electric, and GE including  a stint as the EHS, Security, and Housekeeping Manager for NBC10 (WCAU) in Philadelphia. 

Tony has specific experience in all aspects of corporate management, including quality assurance, risk management, operations, and hazardous waste disposal for both profit and non-profit organizations.  Tony has also spent several years working as a consultant on several US EPA contracts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware with a focus on environmental compliance and hazardous waste disposal.  An experienced trainer and compliance manager, Tony is a US Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Instructor and authorized OSHA Instructor. 

Tony is a certified youth soccer coach for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association.  Tony is set to complete his Master of Sciences in Environmental Health from Temple University in the Fall of 2008.


   President-Elect: Jim Corrado

Jim Corrado is a Human Resources, Operations and Administration professional with more than 18 years progressive experience. He has developed and executed proactive, creative strategies and programs that have driven and supported business results in a number of industries, including pharmaceutical, healthcare and financial services. Jim’s experience is in organizations ranging from 40 through over 2,500 employees, both domestically and internationally, and in both union and non-union environments. His experience includes direct and direct responsibility for workers’ compensation and employee health and safety programs.

Currently, Jim is employed by Med-Tex Services, Inc., which provides safety, health and rescue services, products and training.

He is a 10 year active member of the Highland Park Fire Company (Upper Darby Township, PA) and has held the positions of firefighter, safety officer, lieutenant, captain and assistant chief; and, he is currently a member of the board of directors.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies/Human Resources Development and a Masters in Management in Business Administration from Neumann College and Pennsylvania State University, respectively. 


  Vice-President: Al Keiss

Al retired in 1997 as a chief officer in a federal fire department, at which time he joined Med-Tex Services, currently serving as the company's Operations Manager.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Health from Temple University, and an undergraduate degree in Fire Science.  He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Safety and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Environmental Protection from St. Joseph’s University.

Al remains active after retiring as a paramedic.  He has over 37 years of service in voluntary firefighting, serving nearly 25 years as a fire instructor, including service on the Pennsylvania Fire Commissioner’s Fire Service Certification Advisory Committee.

He has previously served the Philadelphia Chapter ASSE as Chapter Secretary.  Al is the chairperson of the Sunoco Contractor Safety Cooperative, and is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Contractor’s Safety Council and the PALM/BuiltRite Process Safety Management Committee.  He is an authorized OSHA 500 instructor, a certified Safety-Trained Supervisor and a Construction Health and Safety Technician.

Al currently lives in Edgmont, Delaware County with his wife.


  Treasurer: Joe Dutko

Joe has worked for Modern Group Limited for more than 25 years. Modern is a diverse material handling company with 24 locations covering NJ, Eastern PA, DE & MD. In 1991, Joe took the assignment of becoming Moderns first Safety Director and implemented a broad spectrum of programs to insure the company's compliance with existing rules and employee safety. Having studied at Penn State and at the National Safety Council, he received his Advance Safety Certificate in 1994. In 1997 he expanded his technical specialties in D.O.T. compliance, combining all 4 Modern operating companies' programs into one. Joe has been a member of ASSE since 1998. He has been an active member in the ASSE in attending seminars in Baltimore, Orlando, Atlantic City and other events. He became active in the Philadelphia Chapter in 1999, and joined the Executive Board as Treasurer-elect for 2001-02.

Joe resides in Burlington City, NJ and is kept busy restoring an 1880 period 3-story brick house. His son Matthew, an accomplished house finish carpenter, is glad to help with some of the more difficult work. Major outdoor activities include; whitewater rafting (the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon was the best so far), exploring the canyons of the West and traveling to name a few.


  Secretary: Tom Case

Tom Case is an private occupational safety and health consultant. Prior to going into consulting, Tom served as corporate safety, health and environmental manager for an international manufacturer and distributor of food products, and as a senior health and safety specialist for an international building products manufacturer.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering Technology, and his Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, from Temple University. He has over 20 years of occupational safety and health experience in consulting, industry and academia.

He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional.

Tom has been a member of the Philadelphia Chapter ASSE since 1993. He is also an officer of the Philadelphia Section AIHA, currently serving as the section's Secretary and Webmaster. Tom lives in Royersford, PA.


  Delegate: John Connolly

John is the Safety Professional for the Sheet Metal Contractors Association of Philadelphia and Vicinity. The Association Offices are in Conshohocken and the Membership we serve is based in Southeastern PA, Western NJ, and Delaware. John has over 16 years experience in Association Management and extensive experience in construction related activities. He is a graduate of Kutztown University with a B.S. in Education.

An ASSE Member since 2000 and John participated in the National PDCs in 2002 and 2003, plus the Philadelphia Chapter PDCs. He is an authorized OSHA Construction and General Industry Instructor and Red Cross CPR/ First Aid Instructor. Professional Memberships also include the Mid-Atlantic Construction Safety Council (MACSC).

John resides, with wife Deborah, outside of Sinking Spring (PA). He has one son, Brian, and has become an "empty-nester". A bad, infrequent golfer, John enjoys the quiet times fishing local streams.


   Delegate: Sean Connolly

Sean is a Certified Safety Professional with over 12 years of field and corporate management experience in occupational safety and health. He graduated with a BS in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management from Millersville University and has also earned his MS in Environmental Health from Temple University. He is currently employed as the Northeast Region EHS Manager for GAF Materials Corporation, a roofing and building materials manufacturer. He is based in Quakertown, PA.

Sean has worked in chemicals, nuclear power and manufacturing. He has extensive experience in a variety of occupational safety and health fields such as process safety management, industrial hygiene, fire protection, risk management, ergonomics, training, hazardous waste management and many others. In addition to GAF Materials Corporation, Sean has worked for Stonhard, Inc., ATOFINA Chemicals (now called Arkema, Inc.) and PSEG Nuclear.

Sean has been a member of the Philadelphia chapters of both the ASSE and AIHA since 1998.

Sean lives in Spinnerstown, PA with wife Denise and daughters Kate and Erin.


  Delegate: Andrew Salvadore

Andrew is the Safety Compliance and Training Manager for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co., with 20 plus years of field and management experience in occupational safety, health and risk management.  As a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Safety Sciences Program in 1985, Andrew has continued his professional development and is a board certified safety professional, certified tree care safety professional and an ISA certified arborist.  Andrew has dedicated his career to the protection of people, property and the environment.

Andrew currently serves on the Utility Line Clearance Coalition (ULCC), ANSI Accredited Standards Committee Z133 Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations, Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Safety Task Forces, TCIA Standards and Best Work Practices Subgroup, Member of the Utility Arborist Association and is a past president and current delegate for the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

He currently supports the safety compliance and training programs for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co. and works out of the World Headquarters located in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
 


Past President: Hoyt Emmons

Hoyt Emmons is the Manager of Employee & Environmental Safety & Health at Tengion, Inc., a regenerative medicine biotechnology company in East Norriton, PA.  Hoyt has over 20 years of experience in various aspects of EHS and Security in the chemical and biopharmaceutical industries.

Hoyt has a BS in Animal Science from Delaware Valley College, a MBA from LaSalle University, and a MS in Environmental Health from Temple University.  He is also a certified OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer for 10 and 30 hour programs.

Hoyt’s non-safety work includes sheep shearing and teaching the WITS personal fitness trainer certification course.  Hoyt enjoys spending time with his family and participating in outdoor activities.


    Member-At-Large: Tamara Mueller

Tamara Mueller is an EHS professional with over 10 years of industry experience and a history of successfully helping her clients identify and surpass their goals.  Tamara is a Program Specialist for RCI Safe Solutions out of Dallas, TX.  Tamara is grounded in a core belief of developing long term strategic partnerships and relies on a broad background of regulatory and best practice knowledge when identifying industry trends and offering EHS solutions.

In 2002, Tamara co-founded Tandem Group, Inc., a national Environmental, Health and Safety educational service provider to small, medium and Fortune 500 Companies.  In 2003, she partnered with local community emergency response organizations to develop a Driver Safety educational program; later that year, she was named as Outstanding Business Woman of the year for her efforts.  Prior to Tandem Group, she acted as the Business Development Manager and Sales Training Coordinator for Summit Training Source, Inc., a provider of EHS training materials.  While at Summit, she collaborated with clients to determine their training needs, and assisted in the development of appropriate and timely training programs that were delivered through a variety of media platforms.  Tamara was recognized by her clients as both Outstanding Vendor and Vendor of the Year in 2001, along with being recognized by her peers as an Outstanding Account Manager.

In her efforts in the EHS educational field, Tamara has had the opportunity to work with clients in an array of industries including: Food, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Pulp and Paper, Entertainment, Building Products, Transportation and Automotive.

Tamara and her husband Dennis share a home in the Philadelphia, PA suburbs.  In her free time, she enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle that includes biking, horseback riding and spending time with friends and family.  Tamara is a NAUI-certified Scuba Diver and enjoys traveling to warm destinations and Europe.  She also regularly participates in charitable races to raise awareness for breast cancer.


    Member-At-Large: Terrie Lynn Bryan

Terrie Lynn Bryan is a Risk Control Consultant for ACE/ESIS, an international property and casualty insurance carrier. She holds an MS in Environmental Protection & Safety Management from Saint Joseph's University and has been in the safety field since 1999. Terrie also holds a BSN from Thomas Jefferson University and has 10 years of critical care/trauma and post-anesthesia nursing experience. She has been an active member of ASSE since 2001 and has served as Chapter Secretary and Newsletter Editor and is the current chairperson for the Community Relations Committee.


    Member-At-Large: Jake Albert

Jake Albert is a Corporate Health and Safety Specialist for O’Brien & Gere, an engineering and project delivery company, where he works from the Blue Bell, PA office. He provides safety support and training in the metro region for employees of O’Brien & Gere and for their subcontractors. Jake graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health and a minor in Mathematics. Jake is also a First Aid/CPR instructor through ECSI.

Jake has been an active member of ASSE since 2004. He has attended Safety 2006 in New Orleans and will be attending Safety 2008 in Las Vegas.

Jake resides in Bala Cynwyd, PA with his wife. He is a volunteer firefighter at the Union Fire Association, where you can find him most of the time, and he also enjoys biking, traveling, other outdoor activities and also being newly married.


    Member-At-Large: Bill Paolello

Bill Paolello is a Senior Safety Coordinator at Delmarva Power in Newark, Delaware.  Bill has over 10 years of safety and environmental experience in various industries including electric generation, electric transmission and delivery, steel manufacturing and chemical processing.   

Bill has a BS in Life Science from Rowan University and is currently enrolled in an online master’s program for Safety, Security and Emergency Management offered by Eastern Kentucky University.  He is also an OSHA authorized trainer for General Industry.

Bill resides in Mullica Hill, New Jersey with his wife and three sons and spends much of his free time volunteering as an Assistant Scoutmaster with BSA Troop #44.
