Candidates for Office: 2008-2009 Elections
The following members of the Philadelphia Chapter ASSE are running for elected Chapter office for 2008-2009. We appreciate their commitment to the Chapter, and their willingness to give of their time to assist in developing the Chapter's educational programs.

Tony Mangabat
Tony Mangabat, Health and Safety Manager for The DePaul Group’s Highway Materials Inc., has over 16 years of Environmental, Health, & Safety experience in a multitude of industries. A graduate of LaSalle University, Tony has worked for many noted corporations including Westinghouse, Emerson Electric, and GE including a stint as the EHS, Security, and Housekeeping Manager for NBC10 (WCAU) in Philadelphia.
Tony has specific experience in all aspects of corporate management, including quality assurance, risk management, operations, and hazardous waste disposal for both profit and non-profit organizations. Tony has also spent several years working as a consultant on several US EPA contracts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware with a focus on environmental compliance and hazardous waste disposal. An experienced trainer and compliance manager, Tony is a US Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Instructor and authorized OSHA Instructor.
Tony is a certified youth soccer coach for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. Tony is set to complete his Master of Sciences in Environmental Health from Temple University in the Fall of 2008.
Jacob Albert
Jake Albert is a Corporate Health and
Safety Specialist for O’Brien & Gere, an engineering and project delivery
company, where he works from the Blue Bell, PA office. He provides safety
support and training in the metro region for employees of O’Brien & Gere and for
their subcontractors. Jake graduated from Millersville University with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health and a
minor in Mathematics. Jake is also a First Aid/CPR instructor through ECSI.
Jake has been an active member of ASSE since 2004. He has attended Safety 2006
in New Orleans and will be attending Safety 2008 in Las Vegas.
Jake resides in Bala Cynwyd, PA with his wife. He is a volunteer firefighter at
the Union Fire Association, where you can find him most of the time, and he also
enjoys biking, traveling, other outdoor activities and also being newly married.
Jim Corrado
Jim Corrado is a Human Resources,
Operations and Administration professional with more than 18 years progressive
experience. He has developed and executed proactive, creative strategies and
programs that have driven and supported business results in a number of
industries, including pharmaceutical, healthcare and financial services. Jim’s
experience is in organizations ranging from 40 through over 2,500 employees,
both domestically and internationally, and in both union and non-union
environments. His experience includes direct and direct responsibility for
workers’ compensation and employee health and safety programs.
Currently, Jim is employed by Med-Tex Services, Inc., which provides safety,
health and rescue services, products and training.
He is a 10 year active member of the Highland Park Fire Company (Upper Darby
Township, PA) and has held the positions of firefighter, safety officer,
lieutenant, captain and assistant chief; and, he is currently a member of the
board of directors.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies/Human Resources
Development and a Masters in Management in Business Administration from Neumann
College and Pennsylvania State University, respectively.

Bill Paolello
Bill Paolello is a Senior
Safety Coordinator at Delmarva Power in Newark, Delaware. Bill has over 10
years of safety and environmental experience in various industries including
electric generation, electric transmission and delivery, steel manufacturing and
chemical processing.
Bill has a BS in Life Science from Rowan University and is currently enrolled in
an online master’s program for Safety, Security and Emergency Management offered
by Eastern Kentucky University. He is also an OSHA authorized trainer for
General Industry.
Bill resides in Mullica Hill, New Jersey with his wife and three sons and spends
much of his free time volunteering as an Assistant Scoutmaster with BSA Troop
#44.

Thomas E. Case
Tom Case is an private occupational safety
and health consultant. Prior to going into consulting, Tom served as corporate
safety, health and environmental manager for an international manufacturer and
distributor of food products, and as a senior health and safety specialist for
an international building products manufacturer.
Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering
Technology, and his Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health,
from Temple University. He has over 20 years of occupational safety and health
experience in consulting, industry and academia.
He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional.
Tom has been a member of the Philadelphia Chapter ASSE since 1993. He is also an
officer of the Philadelphia Section AIHA, currently serving as the section's
Secretary and Webmaster. Tom lives in Royersford, PA.
Joe Dutko
Joe has worked for Modern Group Limited for
more than 25 years. Modern is a diverse material handling company with 24
locations covering NJ, Eastern PA, DE & MD. In 1991, Joe took the assignment of
becoming Modern's first Safety Director, and implemented a broad spectrum of
programs to insure the company's compliance with existing rules and employee
safety. Having studied at Penn State and at the National Safety Council, he
received his Advance Safety Certificate in 1994. In 1997 he expanded his
technical specialties in DOT compliance, combining all 4 Modern operating
companies' programs into one. Joe has been a member of ASSE since 1998. He has
been an active member in the ASSE in attending seminars in Baltimore, Orlando,
Atlantic City and other events. He became active in the Philadelphia Chapter in
1999, and joined the Executive Board as Treasurer-elect for 2001-2002.
Joe resides in Burlington City, NJ and is kept busy restoring an 1880-period
3-story brick house. His son Matthew, an accomplished house finish carpenter, is
glad to help with some of the more difficult work. Major outdoor activities
include whitewater rafting (the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon was the
best so far), exploring the canyons of the West and traveling to name a few.
